Ken Bell submits:It
looks like our overpaid Congressfolk are at it again - flexing and
preening for the American public. This time, the House has approved a
law that would allow us to sue OPEC for high oil prices. They’ll debate
and pontificate about limiting frivolous lawsuits and excessive
malpractice awards but then turn around and pass a law like this? It makes me pine for the glorious days of the Truman-era "Do-Nothing Congress". Good times.
Before
getting to the new OPEC law, let’s look in at yesterday’s Senate Judiciary
hearing which is questioning oil executives about the rise in oil
prices. Here’s my favorite quote so far, and it comes from Senator
Patrick Leahy, D-VT: "Normal supply and demand says prices should be
around $55 to $60 a barrel."Complete Story » …

Michael Filloon submits:

Aerospace and defense companies are still looking good on a
valuation basis. With increased inflation looming, many consumers
are going to have to cut back on spending in the interim. These cutbacks will hurt many of the United States’ sectors and make it
difficult to find good stocks to buy. Aerospace and defense is
somewhat insulated from this, as much of what is done is through
contracts. Many of these contracts are with governments that have
already allotted the money to be spent. There is always a chance

Moby Waller submits:
As everyone knows, crude oil prices have been rocketing higher. It seems inevitable to me at this point that we will hit $150/barrel on the futures. Often when everybody guesses and discusses that a stock or index will hit a key round-number level, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in a way. The sentiment and speculative aspects of market prices will drive that security to that key level.

On that note, examine the long-term Crude Oil Futures Cash (CL1600) monthly chart (click to enlarge image):

Farid Ayaz and Abu Mohammed, hailing from Pakistan, rank among the most distinguished singers of Qawwali, a stunning music form brought to the West a few years ago by the incomparable Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Qawwali is a Sufi devotional music, known as the 'path of the heart'. It has its origins in ancient Islamic poetry and expresses the intense thoughts and feelings of the great Sufi mystics. The music draws the audience into a transcendental world of chants, at once human and divine. Beginning with a meditative rhythm, the hymns and melodies gradually evolve into an intense and joyful climax where emotions overpower thoughts and there is a feeling of ecstasy all around.

Qaawali is the devotional music of Sufism, meaning Way of the Heart, and draws on many centuries of Islamic poetry in a journey into the passionate, ecstatic world of the Sufi mystics.

Aided by their chorus of singers and accompaniments from tabla, dholak and harmonium, the qaawal's principal singers Farid Ayaz and Abu Mohammed draw their audience into a transcendental world of passionate love songs.
